A daughter, after a fashion, of Zeus (she is said to have sprung whole from his forehead) and Metis. A warrior Goddess, and a patroness of
Kings, rulers, the palace, government, and the City (poulis) in general. She has become inextricably associated with her best-known cult site, Athens,
the city to which her name has been given. Her special gift is the tempered wisdom associated with justice and law.
