Aconite is a remedy for healthy and energetic persons who become acutely ill after
- exposure to intense coldness
- exposure to cold, dry wind
- sometimes exposure to intense heat
- draughts of cold air on a sweaty skin
- nervous shocks, fright or fear
- the shock of birth (in babies).
The moment of intense fright, that led to complaints with fear and heat, can be in someone's personal past; the moment itself can even be forgotten, like the shock of birth.
What determines the choice for Aconitum is the mental state of the person: there is enormous fear, nervous excitement and anxiety of mind. The person can be too scared to go outdoors. There is great fear of death or incurable disease. Aconitums are so afraid to die when they are ill that they even predict the time of their death (but they are not always right about that).
They are restless both mentally and physically. They act in great haste, cannot stand music, everything frightens them. They often change position, especially at night or during fever they are tossing and turning.
Aconitum is a remedy for intense symptoms: acute congestion of the head with redness and heat, fever, grave fear and panic, convulsions, acute inflammations and infections, palpitations. Bleedings are bright red.
During fever the skin is dry and hot; the face is red, or alternately pale and red.
Pains are unendurable and drive the patient crazy and restless.
The pupils of the eyes are very small and narrowed.
Children desire to be carried around.
There is great thirst for large quantities of cold water.
Aconitum complaints get worse in the evening and at night, in a warm room, when rising from bed and when lying on the affected side.
These people feel better in the open air.
Aconitum is often the right remedy for the acute complaints of persons who's constitution usually asks for homeopathic Sulphur.
